Even though the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is organized according to the 3-NOs-Principle – no new institutions, no new legislation, and no new funds – there are some funds earmarked for e.g. policy area coordination support.

Currently, policy area coordinators can apply for such support from the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020.

The Programme provides this support under priority 4 Institutional capacity for macro-regional cooperation, specific objective 4.1 Coordination of macro-regional cooperation. Similar to regular Interreg projects in their applications for funding, policy area coordinators have to provide a detailed work plan and a budget related to their tasks and planned activities.
