The biggest event of the year of the EUSBSR – 6th Annual Forum in Jūrmala (Latvia)

The 2015 Annual Forum, entitled "Achieving e-Quality by Connecting the Region", will focus on digitalization, connectivity, as well as competitiveness of the Baltic Sea Region. The agenda will provide for an opportunity to discuss questions related to blue growth, business opportunities, energy, spatial planning, health, culture, tourism, science and other topics of regional significance.

Flagship Project: Facilitate sustainable shore excursions of cruise ship operators in the Baltic Sea

AIDA Cruises is one of the cruise industry's pioneers in "sustainable shore excursions" and continues to expand its options. In 2013, AIDA started working with the sustainability initiative Futouris e.V. and the State Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to develop standardized criteria for sustainable shore excursions as part of a joint project.

New coordinator for Priority Area Tourism

With the beginning of the New Year, the responsibility for the coordination of Priority Area Tourism has been shifted within the regional government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from the State Chancellery to the Ministry of Economics, Construction and Tourism. Mr Gerd Lange, the Head of Unit for Tourism Policy within the ministry, has taken over this task from Mr Wolf Born.

Tourism is the third largest EU economic sector having a wide-ranging impact on economic growth, employment and social development. Registration open for the 7. Baltic Sea Tourism Forum

From 1st to 2nd October 2014 Region Blekinge will host the 7th Baltic Sea Tourism Forum – Business, Innovation and Partnership in the Swedish naval city of Karlskrona. The event is organized by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourist Board and Region Blekinge in cooperation with the Priority Area Coordinator Tourism of the EU strategy for the Baltic Sea region and further partners.

New call for proposals on "transnational tourism based on European cultural & industrial heritage" and on "Tourism and accessibility for all"

The European Commission has launched a joint call for proposals for "Cooperation projects to support transnational tourism based on European cultural and industrial heritage" and for "Fostering accessible tourism entrepreneurship and management".
