Baltic Sea Tourism Forum (BSTF)

The Baltic Sea Tourism Forum is an important corner stone in the implementation process of Priority Area Tourism and closely related to Action 1. It is the annual international convention of key stakeholders to improve tourism cooperation and the exchange of know-how and best-practices between Baltic Sea neighboring countries. In 2008, the Ministry for Economy, Employment and Tourism at that time and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourist Board initiated the first Baltic Sea Tourism Summit (Forum) which took place in Rostock / Germany. Since then the annual Forum is taking place alternating in the Baltic Sea countries.

The core aims of the Baltic Sea Tourism Forum are to: 1) establish and consolidate a long term communication basis for tourism stakeholder; 2) strengthen the cooperation of all Baltic Sea region countries; 3) ensure the concerns of tourism in the Baltic Sea region; and 4) exploit the existing international development potentials more efficiently.

The cooperation of the Baltic Sea Tourism Forum complements and supports the activities of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region in profiling the area as a tourist destination and contributing to the main actions defined in the strategy: 1) "Facilitate networking and clustering of tourism stakeholders“ and 2) "Mobilise the full potential for sustainable tourism of the Baltic Sea region"
  
The Forum addresses tourism stakeholder from all Baltic Sea countries and beyond. In particular it focusses on tourism organisations and enterprises, countries officials of national and regional administrations, lead and project partners of tourism related EU projects and experts of the sector.

The 7th Baltic Sea Tourism Forum from 1st – 2nd October 2014 in Karlskrona / Sweden will focus on the areas of ‘Business, Innovation & Partnership’. Important components are a business talk with forward-looking aspects from the private sector perspective as well as workshops with innovative approaches and best practices to better link and market tourism offers between countries.
