Pre-study: Bridging past, present and future

Project description

Museums and cultural institutions in the Baltic Sea region have multifaceted expertise and broad networks. The challenge for the museums is to use their potential in an international context, in order to promote and develop the BSR. In addition, there is no common “Baltic identity” or “Baltic brand” at present. Despite our common history, the international connections and exchange in the region are not as intense as they had been in the past. This project aims to create an active network and in the long run develop an umbrella organisation of museums, cultural institutions and tourist organisations that will jointly promote the region. The more immediate objective is to use the network in order to work towards establishing an EU/flagship project within PA Tourism. Collaboration with PAC Tourism, Swedish Institute and other cultural heritage site networks in the region is essential.

Project duration: April 2013 - April 2014
