Seed Money Facility

Since 18 February 2013 the European Commission has provided seed money to co-finance the preparation of projects that contribute to one of the priority areas or horizontal actions of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. Projects that receive seed money funding will draft a project plan that can be further developed into an application to any of the EU or national funding sources e.g. the European Structural & Investment Funds programmes 2014-2020.Each project can receive funding of max. 50.000 Euro for up to one year. The successful continuous implementation of the EUSBSR is also dependent on follow-up financing. Thus, the Operational Programmes 2014-2020 should consider this in their preparatory phases. However, as binding guidelines are not given by the European Commission, it is up to the Member States to stipulate support mechanisms.

Related to Priority Area Tourism, the following projects have received funding from the EUSBSR Seed Money Facility 2013/2014:

- VIABAL - Maritime heritage tourism

- COUNTRY STYLE - Developing rural tourism

- SPORTOUR - Sport and outdoor event tourism
