EU Baltic Sea Strategy - Tourism

Cooperative actions

Lighthouse on the isle of Hiddensee

According to the Action Plan the Priority Area "Tourism" is to be implemented through two cooperative actions and three flagship projects.

Cooperative actions are based on the benefits in improving cooperation on issues where Member States and stakeholders are ready to do so. The financing of these actions could be provided by private or public funding (EU, national, regional or local funds). All actions should be understood without prejudice to the existing exclusive Community competences.

The State Chancellery Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as Priority Area Coordinator is in charge of promoting the implementation of the cooperative actions.

Cooperative action 1:
"Highlight and optimise the sustainable tourism potential" of the Baltic Sea Region by establishing an environmentally-friendly tourism strategy at the level of the Baltic Sea Region... more

Cooperative action 2:
"Network and cluster stakeholders of the tourism industry and tourism education bodies" based on the ongoing activities started with the first Baltic Sea Tourism Summit in October 2008... more
